Activity 1: Mind map

Materials: Mind Meister

Time: 10 minutes

Objectives

  • Students will activate previous background knowledge
  • Students will be engaged in the class
  • Students will recognise the topic of the day

Procedures

  1. A mindmap is prepared by students either on the whiteboard or on the MindMeister platform.
  2. The mindmap is expected to have key vocabulary from each chapter but it can also be improvised to have different sections, such as character names, themes under which related key vocabulary will be written

Activity 2: Find the missing words

Materials: Activity sheets

Time: 20 minutes

Objectives

  • Students will interact and communicate with other peers
  • Students will recover and remember the content previously read in the book

Procedures

  1. Teacher puts students into groups of 3/4
  2. Each group is given 3 pages from the book that have gaps to be filled
  3. For each gap, they will be given 4 options since they are not permitted to use the book to check their answers
  4. When finished, students check their answers with their teacher

Activity 1: Move and find the parts

Materials: Cards & Boxes
Time: 15 minutes

Objectives

  • Students will interact with one another
  • Students will be moving which is valuable especially for students with ADHD or kinesthetic intelligence

Procedures

  1. Teacher divides the classroom into two
  2. Group1 goes to the box with vocabulary.
  3. Group2 goes for flash cards with pictures
  4. Once everyone has a card, each student begins to walk around the classroom, and find the student who is holding the pair.
  5. Then all the pairs are pinned to the classroom board after the approval of the teacher to check if the pairs are all accurate

Activity 2: Act & guess

Materials: Accesories related to characters (if possible)
Time: 15 minutes

Objectives

  • Students develop confidence about speaking and acting in public.
  • Students will be enthusiastic about the competition and will activate their knowledge on the book easily and willingly.

Procedures

  1. While students are acting, other students in the audience try to guess the character from the ebook correctly based on the gestures, mimics, and words used by the student who is acting at that moment.
  2. To make this even more exciting and enthusiastic, classroom can be divided into two groups so that it may be converted to a competition.

Activity 1: Character analysis

Materials: paper, coloured pencils or tablets
Time: 15 minutes

Objectives

  • Students will improve their analysis and abstract thinking skills.
  • Students will use their creativity, organisation, and drawing skills. (They might use their digital design skills if they do it online)

Procedures

  1. Students pick one character from the ebook.
  2. Students are given characters’ silhouette to be painted and to create a mind map/word cloud around the characters with adjectives that are the most relevant to those characters.
  3. Once they finish, they share their ideas with their peers in pairs.

Activity 2: Act out!

Materials: Ebook
Time: 15 minutes

Objectives

  • Students will collaboratively work in groups.
  • Students will gain confidence in speaking, drama while having a good time.
  • Students will remember important incident and lines.

Procedures

  1. Students take part in groups of 3.
  2. Each group is distributed one page from the ebook.
  3. Each group must act that page with different emotion which is assigned randomly or by the teacher.
  4. Finally, groups act in front of the whole class.
